Title:               Program Director - Statewide

Status:            Full Time Exempt - Salaried, Paid Time Off, Benefits

Reports to:    Sr. Education Director


A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and strong interpersonal and sales skills. The capability to develop and manage relationships, motivate executive-level business leaders and possess an energetic, outgoing personality is a must. Our candidate will have proven proficiency in communication with a positive phone presence and proper email etiquette. Must have the ability to multi-task, be detailed, team-oriented, have excellent organizational abilities, and the willingness to be flexible. Other requirements include some lifting, a valid driver’s license and auto insurability, computer skills, and in-state travel to assigned South Dakota JA communities. 


Community Relationships:  Fully responsible for developing positive relationships with key JA community members (i.e. administrators, local board members, classroom volunteers, educators, etc.). Responsible for responding to any issues, questions, or concerns that arise from these relationships, and handling these issues in a positive and mutually satisfactory manner.

Volunteer Recruitment:  Fully responsible for spearheading volunteer recruitment, assigning all classroom volunteers, working with local area boards, and meeting each community’s strategic plans. Responsible for training and mentoring Program Chairs regarding their volunteer recruitment tasks. Responsible for ensuring every volunteer either meets the minimum requirement for their position, or that appropriate action is taken to either train or replace identified volunteers to ensure we deliver a quality program.

Training for Volunteers:  Fully responsible for ensuring each Junior Achievement volunteer receives quality training for their respective program and receives all relevant materials.  Responsible for training and mentoring Program Chairs regarding their volunteer training tasks. Work with the program team to develop and implement trainings. Responsible for identifying and addressing additional training needs as they arise during program delivery.  Also responsible for obtaining feedback to ensure training is meeting its objectives. 

Materials and Reporting:  Fully responsible for ordering program materials needed to implement Junior Achievement programs.  Responsible for working with area Program Chairs to secure kit distribution logistics. Knowledgeable of requirements for all of the programs offered by JA USA.  Adhere to program implementation standards and file R&D/Variances to JA USA as needed.  Assist with the completion of the classroom registration process.

Assure Quality Programs:  Fully responsible for assuring quality programs through email and phone calls, evaluation instruments, and enlisting principals and area board members to assist.  Continually provide feedback, program materials, and resources to volunteers and educators.  Have a knowledge of correlations between South Dakota state standards, National standards, and the Junior Achievement program implementations standards.

Program Communications:  Fully responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining processes that keep area board members, JA leadership, and school administration appraised of program progress, activities, successes, and any other key issues. Provide reports for board meetings.  Empower participants to take ownership to ensure program success.

Recognition:  Provide meaningful recognition for the volunteers and educators who are integral to the success of the program.

Specialized Programming: Responsible for coordinating and supporting JA blended (digital) programs across South Dakota.  Responsible for coordinating and JA in a Day events and high school student competitions.  Assist as needed with developing curriculum, recruiting and training volunteers, and supporting event logistics and facilitation for the JA Excelling through Ethics program.

Other duties as assigned by the President and/or Sr. Education Director.
